Sometime ago a movie called “Princess Diaries Royal engagement” came out. It was a sequel, to Princess Diaries also a very cute, family friendly movie. Most people would agree that, typically speaking, sequels never measure up to the first movie and wind up being a sad disappointment.  But when it came to this movie, in my opinion at least, I liked both movies equally.  One nice thing about this sequel is that you don’t have to watch the first movie to get everything, you can jump right into this movie and it will catch you up to speed.

The first movie tells the tale of how Mia, a shy awkward wallflower, finds out that she is a real life princess of the country Ginovia!   After “princess lessons” she blossoms into a gorgeous young women, more confident than she could ever dream, taking on the role of a strong leader  all the while keeping her friendly perky sweet attitude and yes quirks and all her clumsy mishaps.

The 2^nd movie begins with her being well adjusted in her new role as princess and about to take on the role of Queen (when her grandma, played by Julie Andres) will retire. However, it is soon discovered that Genovian law requires Mia, to be married, before she can take on the role of queen. If that wasn’t stressful enough, she has a deadline of 30 days! Suddenly it’s a mad rush of matchmaking, to find her the perfect mate before it’s too late.

There’s so many cute moments in this movie, including silly parts like “Mattress Surfing,”  an activity taken place during Mia’s Bridal shower. I’ve never heard of mattress surfing until this movie, but  if I were given the opportunity, I might have to get it a try.  A mattress is hauled up flight of stairs, Then you lie on the mattress on your stomach and slide on down!  Laughing giggling all the way to the bottom! Then you pick it up and haul it up the stairs to do it again, and again and again…. Unless you’re a princess and have someone else haul it up the stairs for you!

Either way, it all sounds fun to me
